We are LegalOn, Meet Corey Longhurst, Head of Growth
Welcome to another post in our series, We are LegalOn, where we introduce our US team members and share why we are so excited about LegalOn. Our team brings cutting-edge technology to legal teams with LegalOn's popular contract review tool, trusted by thousands of companies and firms worldwide.
This week, we meet Corey Longhurst, our Head of Growth. Corey is a lawyer turned legal tech enthusiast. After clerking at the Colorado Supreme Court and practicing as a commercial litigator, Corey received his Stanford MBA and worked as a Bain & Company consultant. He is passionate about using technology to make legal work more satisfying for legal professionals and the business and people they serve. When he’s not at work, you’ll probably find him in a tent or on the slopes.
Q: Can you tell us about your experience before joining LegalOn?
My career has been anything but linear. Most recently, I worked as a consultant and manager at Bain & Company after graduating with a Stanford MBA. Before that, I was a lawyer. I practiced at a boutique firm litigating everything from the fallout of the financial crisis to small business disputes. I also clerked at the Colorado Supreme Court, where I developed a deep appreciation for the rule of law and the legal system.
Q: What motivated you to join LegalOn?
LegalOn is a coming together of several threads in my career. As a lawyer, I saw how unresolved contract risks could escalate into a commercial dispute years later. I’ve heard from my in-house colleagues how contract review soaks up time and takes away from other important work. And I’ve heard from entrepreneurs and business leaders how legal review can be a bottleneck to signing a deal or bringing on a vendor. LegalOn is one of the few companies that can solve these pain points with best-in-class AI and expert legal knowledge.
Q: What makes you excited about legal tech?
I left the practice of law, but it never left me. In business school and at Bain, my mind was fixated on how best-in-class technology and product experiences can make legal work more satisfying for legal professionals and the people and businesses we serve. Legal work is often manual, tedious, and time-consuming. It doesn’t have to be that way. Technology can automate repetitive tasks, identify higher-level issues that need a legal decision, and deliver insights to inform those decisions. The result: smarter, faster, and more accessible legal services and a better experience for the legal professionals that do it!

Q: Why do you think it is the right time for contract review AI?
The work of contract review as the next frontier for legal technology. CLMs and practice management platforms are applying technology to streamline legal workflows. Yet, we see far less development in the actual work of contract review, especially third-party paper. That’s because it’s a hard problem to solve – contracts are long, there are thousands of ways to write a legal concept, and there are thousands of legal concepts. LegalOn is squarely focused on contract review and has been since its inception. With years of experience in Japan, LegalOn is uniquely positioned to leverage rapid advancements in AI technology to solve contract review for legal teams in the US.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love an adventure – whether that is travel, a camping trip, or trying (unsuccessfully) to cook a new meal. My latest travel adventure was exploring Thailand’s amazing food, mountains, and beaches. I’m a Colorado native – so it goes without saying that I enjoy skiing, hiking, camping, and being outdoors. And my latest food adventure usually comes in a HelloFresh box that my partner and I try our best to cook.
