She has held pivotal roles at major tech companies like Meta (formerly Facebook) and StubHub, and is a published author with bylines in the New York Times, WIRED, Fortune, and Fast Company.
Tell us more about yourself and your professional background
I've been practicing law for 16 years, specializing in tech transactions throughout my career. My journey has taken me through both tech giants like Meta (when it was still "Facebook") and innovative startups like All Turtles and Human Interest. During my time at Facebook, I led legal work supporting Connectivity Labs and built the company's Supplier Diversity Program. I've also served as Head of Business Operations Management for North America at StubHub.
What makes you excited about legal tech?
What excites me about legal tech, particularly when used by smaller companies, is the opportunity to build things from the ground up. I see tremendous potential in creating resources for early-stage legal teams that can make scaling faster and easier, especially when it comes to standardizing systems and templates. The time savings achieved through legal tech enable attorneys to focus on larger strategic company goals, which is crucial for growing organizations.
What led you to join LegalOn?
LegalOn presents an exciting opportunity to leverage my legal knowledge for a wider audience. It perfectly combines two of my greatest passions - creative drafting and the writing process itself. As someone who has authored two books while practicing law, I see this role as an ideal fusion of legal practice and content creation. It's about transforming legal practice into accessible, valuable content that can benefit many.
Why do you think it is the right time for contract review AI?
The time is always right for tools that enhance efficiency and consistency. We're witnessing the successful implementation of robotics and automation across various sectors - from warehouses to rideshare services. It's logical to extend these advantages to attorneys' day-to-day tasks.
While my husband joked that I'm creating software to make myself obsolete, the reality is that we're making legal professionals more efficient and strategic. Technology refines the process and improves speed, but the critical thinking behind drafting possibilities and liability assessment still requires human expertise.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Writing is a significant part of my life beyond legal work. When I'm not busy with my kids, you might find me indulging in a Bravo marathon (I've seen every season of all Below Deck franchises and Summer House - a guilty pleasure that helped pass time during COVID), or experimenting with new recipes inspired by Food Network shows.
